BLUEBERRY DRESS
At the start of 2022 I wanted to recreate the viral ‘Strawberry Dress’ by the designer Lirika Matoshi. However, I wanted to make a blueberry version which I designed totally myself as at that time, I did not find any previous blueberry dresses online to use as a working reference,. Subsequently, Lirika released a blueberry version after I had finished mine.
Instead of doing a classic blue dress, I wanted to lean into how blueberries change colour from when they are raw to cooked, blue to purple which I thought was fun. I experiemented with different fabric and colours of purple before settling with a Lilac Poplin as the lining of the dress and two layers of Soft Lavender Tulle on top. I used a Cricut to cut out the iron on appliqués in various blueberry and stem shapes and had to individually place and iron each one onto the top layer of the tulle fabric.
